Playa Largo Resort and Spa would like to welcome our new Executive Chef, Brian Archibald, currently the creative behind Francine Brand from RDG comes to Playa Largo Resort with over 25 years of food and beverage experience. Archibald is an “ingredients-driven chef” who has developed a distinctive style that he describes as “a blend of Mediterranean cuisine (Spain/Italy) and heavy French techniques” in his dishes.

Running Top kitchens around the US with such esteemed properties as the 5-star 5 Diamond Boulders Resort & Spa where he was the Director of Culinary & Beverage, The 5 star 5 Diamond Phoenician Resort, JW Marriott Properties Desert Ridge, Camelback Inn, Ritz Carlton just to name a few. At 24 Brian was the youngest Chef to lead the Americas on the JW Marriott Culinary Board of Advisors. After that, he opened over 13 resorts/ restaurants from the ground up including beverage programming.

Chef Archibald’s diverse culinary background includes working with many of the top toque chefs including New York’s legendary Chef Daniel Boulud 3 Michelin-starred Daniel’s, 2 Michelin-starred Gary Danko in S.F. as well as Jeremiah Tower of the Framed Stars. Archibald has been invited to cook at the famed James Beard House in NYC in 08 and 09.

A native of Phoenix, Chef Archibald’s love affair with food dates back to his early childhood years working in the kitchen with his mom and high school C-Cap culinary arts training program that ignited his passion for cooking.  He won a scholarship to attend the legendary California Culinary Academy in San Francisco where he realized the superiority of the taste of ingredients picked fresh from the garden. 

As a lover of competition, Archibald has appeared in 2017 Food Network’s Beat Bobby Flay against Iron Chef Bobby Flay where Brian Won against the Iron Chef. In 2004 was awarded Marriott International Raising Chef Star Award and in 2008 Chaine de Rotisseur, a Young Chef Award for the west coast.
